I get what you mean about plastic bottles holding onto smells, but honestly, stainless has been tricky for me since getting braces. I notice that metallic tang a lot more now, especially if the bottle sits for a bit. Maybe my taste buds are just extra sensitive with all the hardware in my mouth? I started using glass bottles instead—bit heavier, but they don’t seem to mess with the taste or smell at all. Vinegar helps, but sometimes I still pick up a faint aftertaste... might just be in my head.
