If only teeth and gums had the same warning system.
Haha, right? I always wish my nightguard would start glowing or something when it’s gross. I’m with you on the boiling—after a sketchy green spot appeared in my bottle lid once, I started tossing everything into a pot every weekend. Has anyone tried those effervescent denture tablets for bottles? I keep wondering if that’s overkill or genius.
I’ve actually used those denture tablets for my water bottle a couple times, but honestly, I felt a bit silly about it. They work fine for my partial, but with bottles, I just end up rinsing and scrubbing anyway. Maybe I’m old school, but a little dish soap and a bottle brush seem to do the trick most days. My daughter swears by vinegar, though—she says it nukes the funk without any weird aftertaste. I guess whatever keeps the science experiment at bay...
Has anyone ever had issues with lingering smells even after using vinegar? I tried it once and felt like my bottle still had a weird aftertaste. Maybe I didn’t rinse enough… or does it depend on the type of bottle?
Yeah, I’ve totally noticed that weird aftertaste too, especially with plastic bottles. I swear, no matter how much I rinse, it’s like the ghost of vinegar past just lingers. Maybe metal bottles are easier to clean? I still haven’t figured out the magic combo…
Metal bottles definitely don’t hold onto that vinegar ghost as much, at least in my experience. I tried baking soda and warm water—let it sit overnight, then rinse. Helped a bit, but sometimes that hint of “old salad dressing” just won’t quit. Maybe it’s just me?
