I totally get the hesitation about paperwork—I switched orthodontists halfway through my braces treatment and that alone was a headache. But honestly, once it was done, the relief of having someone who actually explained things clearly made it worth all the hassle. Did your surgeon at least give you some printed materials or resources to look at on your own? Sometimes those can help fill in the gaps when docs aren't super chatty...

I feel you on the paperwork anxiety... I'm gearing up for my first bone graft surgery soon, and honestly, the stack of forms alone is enough to make me second-guess everything. My surgeon handed me a folder full of pamphlets and printouts, which was helpful at first, but now I'm kinda drowning in info overload. It's like, great, I have all these diagrams and bullet points—but what I really want is someone who'll just sit down and talk me through it step-by-step without rushing.

Did you find that printed materials actually helped you feel more prepared, or did they just add to your stress? I'm debating whether I should keep digging through all this stuff or just set it aside and trust the process a bit more.

Totally get where you're coming from with the paperwork overload...been there myself. Honestly, for me, the printed stuff was helpful at first, but after a certain point it just made my head spin. I ended up setting most of it aside and just jotting down a few key questions to ask my surgeon directly. Having that face-to-face conversation really helped ease my nerves more than any pamphlet could.

Maybe try focusing on the basics—like what to expect right before and after surgery—and let the rest go for now. Trusting your surgeon and their team is huge, and it sounds like you've done your homework already. You've got this, seriously.

I see your point, but honestly, I found diving deeper into some specifics beforehand really boosted my confidence. Knowing exactly what my options were helped me feel more in control...guess everyone's different though.

Totally get that—I'm the type who needs to know every tiny detail beforehand or my imagination runs wild. Plus, impressing your dentist with random bone graft trivia is always a bonus, right? 😉
