"Eventually, I caved and bought one of those wedge pillows online (found a pretty affordable one on sale)."

Yeah, wedge pillows can be pricey—I ended up improvising with a rolled-up blanket under my regular pillow. Worked okay-ish, but definitely not ideal. Did anyone else find a budget-friendly hack that actually worked?

I tried the rolled-up blanket trick too, but my kid kept sliding off it halfway through the night...ended up being more hassle than help, lol. Eventually, I stacked a couple of firm couch cushions under the mattress itself to create a gentle incline. It wasn't perfect, but it did the trick for a while without spending extra cash. Honestly though, once we finally got a wedge pillow on sale, it was a total game changer—wish I'd done it sooner.

Curious if anyone else noticed a difference in sleep quality or recovery speed after switching to a wedge pillow or similar setup? Or was it mostly just comfort-related?

Totally agree about the wedge pillow—made a huge difference for me too. I tried stacking pillows at first (budget-friendly, right?), but they always shifted around during the night and left me feeling achy by morning. Once I switched to a proper wedge pillow, my sleep felt deeper, and surprisingly, the swelling seemed to go down faster. Might've just been better rest overall helping recovery, but either way, comfort definitely counts when you're healing...worth every penny once you find a good deal.

Interesting to hear the wedge pillow worked so well for you—I actually had a different experience. I bought one after my bone graft surgery, thinking it'd be a game changer, but honestly, it felt way too firm and awkward for me. I tried it for about a week, but ended up going back to my regular pillows stacked in a specific way (took some trial and error, lol). I found that using one memory foam pillow as a base and then layering softer pillows on top gave me just enough elevation without feeling like I was sleeping on a ramp. Maybe it's just personal preference or body type differences? Either way, I agree comfort is key, but sometimes the pricier solutions aren't always the best fit for everyone. Glad you found something that worked though—good sleep definitely makes recovery easier.

Yeah, I think you nailed it right there. My daughter had bone graft surgery recently, and we went through a similar pillow saga. Tried the wedge thing too—she hated it. Ended up doing something really similar to your method with memory foam and softer pillows layered on top. Honestly, whatever gets you comfy enough to sleep through the night is a win in my book... recovery is tough enough without battling pillows, lol. Glad you're figuring out what works for you!
