RE: What if your implant keeps bugging you - how would you cope?
My kiddo had to get an implant after a sports accident, and honestly, I was way more anxious than he was. I totally get what you mean about obsessing over every twinge - after his procedure, I kept checking in, asking if...
RE: Retainer glued in or popping one in and out?
My kid’s ortho recommended the glued-in kind because, honestly, there’s no way he’d remember to pop it in every night. I do worry about cleaning though - he’s not the most thorough brusher, and stuff gets stuck in there ...
RE: How I pack and care for my retainer when traveling - step by step
That’s exactly why I’m always double-checking my kid’s backpack for the retainer case before we head out. Those cases can pop open at the worst times... We had a close call last summer on a road trip - retainer almost en...
RE: Worth it to put protective coatings on kids’ teeth?
We did sealants for both my kids and honestly, it was way less drama than I expected. My daughter is usually on high alert at the dentist (seriously, she can hear a drill from the waiting room and starts sweating), but s...
RE: When the first fix doesn’t stick: a dental do-over adventure
We never got anything in writing, just a “don’t worry, we’ll take care of it” kind of promise. I was a little nervous about pushing for more details, but when my kid’s crown popped off, they fixed it no questions asked. ...
RE: Root Canal Nerves: Did Anyone Else Actually Feel Relieved Afterward?
My kiddo just had their first root canal a couple months ago and honestly, I was probably more nervous than they were. The numbing took forever to kick in - felt like we were living at the dentist’s office for a bit ther...
RE: Getting used to new dentures: slow and steady or all at once?
This is so true, especially about the “no gold star for speed” thing. My kiddo had to get partial dentures way younger than most, and I’ll admit I was the one secretly hoping we could just breeze right through the adjust...
RE: Weirdest pain after getting braces tightened - normal or not?
My kiddo had the same thing after her last adjustment - her cheek puffed up like she’d been in a cartoon brawl. I was ready to call the ortho at midnight, but it calmed down with some ice and Tylenol. It’s wild how drama...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
I totally get that feeling. My kid used to scrub like crazy, thinking it helped. Switching to a soft brush felt wrong at first, but her gums look so much healthier now. Breaking those old habits really does take a while.
RE: How often do you actually see your dentist?
I totally get what you mean about gadgets. My kid’s ortho suggested a water flosser, but honestly, regular floss and patience worked fine for us - just took a little longer. Sometimes it feels like dentists are always pi...
RE: KIDS' TOOTHBRUSHES: ELECTRIC VS MANUAL - WHAT'S WORKING FOR YOUR FAMILY?
We switched my daughter to an electric brush last year, and it’s honestly been a game changer. She actually looks forward to brushing now (the music helps). I used to have to stand over her with the manual one, but now s...
RE: Kid Knocked Out a Tooth - What Should I Have Ready at Home?
I totally get where you’re coming from! The milk thing always sounded so random to me, but our dentist swears by it for a knocked-out tooth. That said, I’ve never actually managed to grab milk in the chaos - saline and a...
RE: Best ways to keep your mouth happy after a tooth pulled?
My kiddo had a tooth pulled last fall and honestly, yogurt was our MVP too. Popsicles were fun, but yogurt was way less messy and didn’t make her bounce off the walls. We skipped the salt rinse after the first try - she ...
RE: Gums can shrink back too - did you know stress might play a role?
That sounds so familiar. My son started grinding his teeth when he was 8, right after we moved. I always thought gum issues were just about sugar or not brushing enough, but stress really did a number on him too. The den...
RE: Getting my kid to the dentist without tears - how do you do it?
We’ve definitely had our fair share of dentist drama. My daughter once insisted on bringing her stuffed sloth, and the hygienist let it “get its teeth cleaned” first. That silly little routine actually made a huge differ...
