I feel this so much. When I had my wisdom teeth out, I swear the list of “essentials” was longer than my recovery time. I tried one of those fancy rinses and it felt like gargling battery acid. Ended up sticking to saltwater too—cheap, easy, and didn’t make me cry. My dentist kept pushing the pricier stuff, but honestly, my mouth healed up fine without it. Maybe I’m just stubborn, but sometimes simple really is better.

Totally get where you’re coming from. I was overwhelmed by all the stuff my dentist recommended after my extraction too. Saltwater rinses were honestly all I could handle—everything else just made things worse. Sometimes the basics are underrated, for real.

Saltwater rinses were the only thing my kid could handle after his extraction, too. The dentist gave us this whole list—special mouthwashes, gauze changes, even a syringe to rinse the socket. It just stressed him out and honestly made me second-guess if we were doing anything right. We stuck with saltwater and gentle brushing, and that seemed to be enough. I do wonder if skipping the fancy stuff made a difference, but at least he healed up okay. Sometimes simple really is best, especially when you’ve got a nervous kid.

You’re definitely not alone—kids can get overwhelmed with all the post-op “extras.” Saltwater rinses are actually a classic for a reason. I see plenty of families skip the fancier stuff and their kids heal just fine. The most important thing is keeping it gentle and not stressing everyone out.

This is so true. We tried the fancy mouthwash they gave us after my kid’s wisdom teeth came out, but it tasted awful and he refused after day two. Switched to saltwater and honestly, it was way easier on everyone (and the wallet). Not sure if the expensive stuff is really worth it unless there’s a specific reason? I get nervous skipping things the dentist suggests, but sometimes simple is just less stressful… and less likely to end up in a bathroom cabinet forever.
