I get what you mean about the straws, but honestly, I didn’t miss them as much as I thought. Sipping straight from the glass was awkward at first, but I got used to it pretty quick. The nose thing though—yeah, that’s tough. I found saline rinses helped with the drip and pressure more than I expected. Felt weird, but better than fighting the urge to blow my nose every five minutes.

Couldn’t agree more about the saline rinses. The first time I tried it, it felt kind of unnatural, but after a few days it really cut down on the congestion and helped with healing. Just a heads-up—if you’re using a squeeze bottle or neti pot, make sure the water's sterile or boiled and cooled. Tap water can actually introduce bacteria, which is the last thing you want post-surgery. Also, I know it’s tempting, but resisting the urge to blow your nose is huge for avoiding complications. It drove me nuts, but it really does matter for recovery.

I get the caution around water quality, but honestly, I think people can get a bit overzealous with sterile technique. As long as you’re not using straight tap water and you rinse your bottle/neti pot regularly, it’s probably fine for most healthy folks. That said, I do agree about resisting the urge to blow your nose—hard as it is, it really does make a difference. For me, gentle dabbing with tissues was the only thing that kept me sane those first few days.

I hear you on the water thing—honestly, after my sinus surgery, I was so paranoid about infection that I boiled water like I was prepping for a science experiment. But yeah, the temptation to blow your nose is real. I tried once (just a little), and it felt like I’d launched a rocket up my face... never again. Dabbing with tissues became my new normal, even if it did make me feel like I was starring in some Victorian drama.
