Haha, I feel this so much. My dentist once casually mentioned that biting into apples could pop the brackets off, and even now—years after braces—I still slice apples into tiny wedges out of habit. It's funny how those warnings stick with you, isn't it?

"I remember sitting there awkwardly nibbling on the crust like a mouse"

This cracked me up because I remember doing exactly the same thing at movie nights, carefully picking around popcorn kernels like they were landmines. Honestly, though, it does get easier. Eventually, you'll find yourself munching away without even realizing it. Just takes a bit of time to shake off that dental PTSD, haha.

Haha, the popcorn thing is so relatable. I remember my first week without braces, I bought the biggest bag of caramel popcorn I could find and just went for it. Felt weirdly rebellious after years of cautious nibbling. Funny thing is, even now I still catch myself hesitating over sticky candies or crunchy snacks... old habits die hard, I guess.

"carefully picking around popcorn kernels like they were landmines"

Exactly this! Took me ages to stop being paranoid about kernels. It does fade eventually, promise.

Haha, totally feel you on the caramel popcorn rebellion. I remember my first brace-free day—I went straight for a Snickers bar I'd been craving forever. Weirdly enough, halfway through chewing, I panicked thinking I'd broken a bracket... took me a sec to realize there weren't any brackets left! Like you said:

"old habits die hard"

It definitely takes a while to stop second-guessing every crunchy bite, but you'll get there eventually.

Haha, I totally get that bracket panic—been there myself. Took me weeks to stop checking my teeth after every crunchy snack. Did anyone else find themselves still carrying floss picks everywhere, just out of habit...?

Haha, floss picks became my security blanket for a while too... totally normal. Habits like that stick around because braces train you to be hyper-aware of your teeth. Honestly, it's not a bad thing—means you're probably taking better care of your teeth than most people out there. Eventually, you'll relax into it and won't even notice you've stopped carrying them everywhere. Just enjoy the freedom of crunchy snacks without worry; you've earned it. Congrats on getting through braces!
