Okay, I know this sounds kinda dumb but ever since my braces came off, my teeth feel...idk, slippery? Like they're weirdly smooth and almost fake-feeling. Is it just me or does anyone else get this too?

You're definitely not alone—I remember feeling exactly the same way. It's because your teeth have been covered by brackets for so long, and now they're suddenly exposed again. Plus, orthodontists usually polish them up pretty thoroughly after removing braces, so that extra smoothness can feel kinda unnatural at first. Took me a good week or two to get used to it...but trust me, you'll start appreciating how clean and smooth they feel once the weirdness wears off.

Mine felt kinda sensitive too, especially when drinking cold stuff. Did anyone else notice their bite feeling slightly off afterward? Wondering if that's normal or worth checking out...

Mine felt exactly the same way for weeks after getting my braces off. Honestly, I was pretty freaked out at first because I expected everything to feel perfect right away. Cold drinks were especially weird—I remember sipping iced coffee and thinking, "wait, did they mess something up?" 😂 But after a few weeks, that sensitivity calmed down a lot.

About the bite issue though...I totally get what you're talking about. My bite felt slightly off too, almost like my teeth weren't aligned properly or something. It wasn't super noticeable visually, just a weird feeling when I chewed or closed my mouth. I brought it up at my follow-up appointment (because of course I was paranoid), and my orthodontist reassured me that it's actually pretty common. Apparently, your teeth and jaw muscles need time to adjust to their new positions, so things might feel "off" initially.

She recommended giving it a month or two to settle in. Sure enough, after about six weeks, things started feeling more natural. I guess it's kinda like breaking in new shoes or something—your mouth just needs time to adapt.

If it keeps bothering you or feels super uncomfortable though, definitely don't hesitate to get it checked out. Better safe than sorry, you know? But from my experience, it sounds like you're going through pretty normal post-braces weirdness. Hang in there...it gets better!

Yeah, slippery is exactly how I'd describe it too. I remember running my tongue over my teeth constantly because they felt so weirdly smooth and foreign. And the bite thing—I had that too. It felt like my teeth weren't lining up right, especially when chewing. Took about a month or so before everything settled down and felt normal again. Sounds like you're right on track, honestly.
