RE: Stringy residue after brushing: what clues help explain it?
If your mouth also feels dry while talking or eating dry foods, rather than just right after brushing, that makes reduced saliva more plausible than a temporary brushing-related film. It’s still only a clue, not a way to...
RE: Stringy residue after brushing: what clues help explain it?
A brushing-only pattern that changes with the toothpaste is a useful clue, but it doesn’t prove the toothpaste is the cause. Brushing can loosen surface debris, and some formulas may leave a temporary film. If the residu...
RE: Tooth pain strikes: do you go to the ER or wait for your dentist?
Tooth pain is honestly one of those things that makes me question my entire pain tolerance. I totally get what you mean about not knowing if you’re being dramatic or if it’s actually serious. There’s something about dent...
RE: EATING SOUP FOR WEEKS: HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO CHEW NORMAL FOOD AGAIN?
Totally relate to that weird taste thing - felt like everything was just bland mush for weeks. I remember being SO nervous to bite into my first slice of toast, like my teeth might just say nope and quit on me. Did anyon...
RE: Floss picks or classic string floss: which actually works better for gums?
String floss is like a weird finger workout, right? I totally get what you mean about feeling like you’re doing some kinda hand yoga - my pinkies always end up in weird positions. I used to use picks too because they jus...
RE: Weird but true: toothpicks aren’t enough
Man, those tiny brushes are such a weird mix of helpful and annoying. I remember when I first got braces, my ortho handed me a pack and said, “Just use these between the brackets.” Sounded simple enough, but I swear it f...
RE: How often do your kids actually need to see the dentist?
Yeah, I get what you mean about not wanting to drag your kid in more than needed. My daughter used to freak out at every appointment, so I started spacing them out a bit - like 7-8 months instead of exactly six. Her dent...
RE: Which Toothbrush Actually Makes a Difference?
That pressure sensor light is honestly a bit of a double-edged sword. I thought it would help me be gentler, but sometimes it just made me second-guess if I was brushing “right” at all. I totally get what you mean about ...
RE: GETTING THROUGH THE DENTIST CHAIR WITHOUT PANIC - ANYONE TRIED SEDATION?
Totally get what you mean about the anxiety - mine used to spike just hearing the drill from the waiting room. I tried nitrous for a filling once after way too many tense appointments, and honestly, it was like someone j...
RE: Feeling stuck between another root canal or just pulling the tooth?
Totally get where you’re coming from - food getting stuck was something I worried about too. Honestly, it happened a bit at first, but once the gum settled and I got used to flossing around it, it wasn’t a big deal. For ...
RE: Toothpaste aisle overwhelm: how I pick what actually works
I totally get the struggle with morning brushing - my autopilot mode is real before I’m fully awake. My hygienist gave me the same “gentle circles” talk, and for a while I was like, “sure, sure,” but then I actually saw ...
RE: How do you deal with your favorite drinks turning your teeth yellow?
Straws with hot coffee just never worked for me either. I tried it once and felt like I was sipping soup at a diner - just awkward. I’ve mostly accepted that my teeth are going to pick up a little stain here and there fr...
RE: If you could only pick one vitamin for your teeth, which would it be?
I totally get the feeling - every time I see a dental bill, it’s like, “Wait, did I accidentally sign up for a car lease or just get my teeth cleaned?” The vitamin stuff is confusing, too. I used to think chugging milk w...
