Got my braces off yesterday after almost two years (finally free, woohoo), but now my teeth feel super weird. Like, they're kinda slimy and smooth, but also sensitive and sorta achy? It's hard to describe exactly, but it's like my teeth don't feel like they're mine anymore, lol. Eating feels strange too, like biting into stuff is just...off. I thought I'd be thrilled to have them gone, but now I'm just distracted by this weird sensation.

Did anyone else have this happen when they got their braces off? How long did it take for your teeth to feel normal again? I'm hoping this is just temporary and not some permanent thing I gotta get used to.

Yeah, I remember that feeling clearly...my teeth felt weirdly slippery and kinda fragile for a few days. Eating apples or crunchy stuff was especially awkward, like my teeth weren't strong enough or something. It gradually got better though, maybe a week or two before things felt normal-ish again. Still, I was paranoid about biting into anything hard for a while after that. Guess it's just your mouth adjusting after being covered up for so long.

That's a pretty common reaction, actually. When my braces came off, I felt like my teeth were made of glass for the first week or soβ€”especially biting into sandwiches or apples. The slippery feeling is usually because your teeth are finally free of brackets and glue, and your tongue isn't used to the smoothness yet. It takes a bit for your mouth to adjust, but give it a couple weeks and you'll probably forget you ever had braces in the first place. Just go easy on crunchy stuff for now...no rush.
