How Long Do Your Adjustment Appointments Actually Take?

Read this article earlier today saying most adjustment visits (like for braces) are supposed to be “in and out” in 15-20 minutes, but honestly that hasn’t been my experience. Mine usually drag on for like half an hour, sometimes more if there’s a wait. Maybe it’s just my ortho’s office? Does anyone else feel like these appointments always take longer than advertised, or is it just me being impatient?

Honestly, same here. I always read those “15-20 minute” estimates and wonder if I’m just unlucky. My last few adjustments have all been closer to 40 minutes, and I start getting anxious just sitting there waiting. Maybe the quick visits are only if you’re the first patient of the day? I don’t know, but I don’t think it’s just impatience. I wish they’d be upfront about the real timing… makes planning the rest of my day tricky.

I hear you—those “quick” adjustments are a myth for me, too. I’ve had appointments run 45 minutes, and I’m just sitting there wondering if I missed a secret fast-pass line. Sometimes I think it depends on the staff that day or if the doc’s juggling emergencies. Honestly, I start planning for at least an hour now, just in case. Has anyone actually had one done in 15 minutes? That feels like winning the lottery.

Right? I always laugh when people say their adjustments are “in and out” because I’ve never had that luck. Mine usually drag out, especially if they’re running behind or there’s a new assistant learning the ropes. But honestly, it’s totally normal to plan for an hour—better than stressing about being late somewhere else. Hang in there, you’re definitely not alone.

- Never had an “in and out” visit, unless you count the time I just picked up wax and left.
- My appointments are a solid 30-40 mins, and that’s if the waiting room isn’t packed.
- The only thing “quick” is how fast my cheeks get sore from those plastic things they use.
- Maybe the 15-min thing is for people with super simple cases? Or maybe it’s just marketing talk…
- At this point, I bring headphones and a podcast—just makes the wait feel less endless.
