Those water flossers honestly make me nervous—I keep worrying I’ll miss something important between the brackets. My kid’s ortho suggested them, but I still double-check with regular floss, even if it takes ages. Sugar cravings are tough; we switched to yogurt and berries, but it’s not the same as candy. Anyone else’s kid get annoyed about all the “off-limits” snacks?

I totally get that anxiety about water flossers—honestly, I still don’t trust them 100%. I always end up going back over everything with regular floss, even if it takes forever. My daughter misses popcorn the most and complains about “boring” snacks now. I feel like I’m constantly double-checking her teeth for hidden sugar!

I hear you on the popcorn thing—my niece practically mourned her movie nights for months after she got braces. It’s tough finding snacks that feel exciting but don’t wreak havoc on brackets or get stuck everywhere. I’ll admit, I used to side-eye water flossers too, but after seeing how much gunk they blasted out (especially after sticky treats), I warmed up to them. Still, nothing beats a quick check with regular floss here and there. Sugar sneaks in so easily... I tell parents not to stress about being perfect, just aim for “better than yesterday.”
