I've got a root canal consultation scheduled for next week, and I'm kinda torn about how to approach it. Usually, when I have medical appointments, I jot down a bunch of questions beforehand so I don't forget anything important. But honestly, sometimes that makes me feel like I'm interviewing the dentist or something, lol. It can feel a bit awkward pulling out my little notebook and going through a checklist.

On the other hand, if I just wing it, I always end up walking out and realizing later that I forgot to ask something super important. Like last time at my regular dentist, I totally spaced on asking about aftercare stuff and had to call back later feeling kinda dumb.

So I'm curious how you guys handle these kinds of appointments. Do you prefer writing down your questions ahead of time and being super prepared, or do you just trust yourself to remember everything in the moment? Maybe there's some middle ground I'm not thinking of...?

Also, if anyone has any funny or awkward stories about dentist visits or consultations gone wrong (or right!), I'd love to hear them. Might help ease my nerves a bit, haha.

I totally get the notebook awkwardness, but honestly, as someone who's been on both sides of the dental chair, bringing a few written questions can be super helpful. I've had patients do it, and trust me, we don't mind at all—actually makes things easier. Last time I had my own dental procedure, I thought I'd remember everything... nope. Had to text my colleague later about basic stuff, felt pretty silly. A quick note on your phone might be a good middle ground?

I feel this so much. I went into my last dental consult thinking I'd remember everything, but once I was in the chair, nerves totally took over and my mind went blank. Ended up leaving with more questions than answers...ugh. Next time I'm definitely jotting down a few notes on my phone beforehand—seems less awkward than pulling out a notebook, and at least I'll have something to glance at if anxiety kicks in again.

Same here, nerves always mess me up at the dentist. Last time I had a root canal consult, I thought I'd wing it and ended up forgetting half my questions. Felt pretty dumb after. Now I just put a few bullet points in my phone notes—way easier to glance at subtly if I blank out again. Better safe than sorry, especially when anxiety kicks in...

I used to wing it too, until I blanked during a veneer consult and ended up nodding along cluelessly. Now I jot down quick notes beforehand—definitely helps keep anxiety in check and makes the convo flow smoother. Lesson learned the awkward way...
