My dentist just told me I probably need a root canal, and honestly, I'm kinda nervous. Never had one before, and I've heard some horror stories from friends about painful experiences or having to redo it later. I wanna make sure I pick someone who's really good at this stuff, you know? Has anyone here been through this and found a way to make sure you're choosing a solid endodontist? Any red flags I should watch out for?

Honestly, I've had a couple root canals over the years, and I think the horror stories are a bit exaggerated. Sure, it's not exactly a spa day, but with modern anesthetics it's really not that bad. Instead of stressing too much about finding the "perfect" specialist, maybe just ask your dentist who they'd trust with their own teeth? Worked for me... twice.

That gives you a practical way to judge whether they’re a good fit without trying to find a supposedly perfect specialist.
