"Ended up using dish soapβcheap, simple, and surprisingly effective."
Dish soap's definitely underrated for grease, but have you tried baking soda paste yet? I spilled salad dressing on my favorite sweater (typical clumsy me...), and enzymes didn't help much either. Mixed baking soda with a little water, let it sit overnight, and it lifted right out. Might be worth a shot next pizza night?
Dish soap's pretty handy, especially for greasy stuff, but baking soda paste is a lifesaver too. Funny enough, my dentist recommended it years ago when I complained about coffee stains on my teeth (yeah, guilty as charged...). Turns out it's just as good on clothesβgot red wine out of a white shirt once. Just be careful not to scrub too hard or you'll wear out the fabric. Learned that one the hard way...
Funny you mentioned your dentist recommending baking sodaβI actually had a patient bring this up recently. Made me a bit nervous honestly, because while baking soda *can* help with stains on teeth, it's abrasive if you're not careful. Same goes for fabric, I guess... learned that lesson myself when I tried to scrub out a stubborn pasta sauce stain from my favorite scrubs. Got a little carried away and ended up thinning out the fabric pretty badly. Now I just stick to soaking stains first before gently scrubbingβseems safer that way.
Dish soap is definitely handy, though. Once spilled some cooking oil down my shirt (donβt ask how), panicked, grabbed the dish soap, and it actually worked wonders. But yeah, moderation is key with these homemade solutions... too much enthusiasm and you might end up doing more harm than good.

Yeah, dish soap saved me a few times too, but does anyone know if it matters what kind you use? Like, is regular Dawn better than the eco-friendly stuff, or does it not really make a difference...?
I've wondered about that too. Last week my kiddo spilled spaghetti sauce all over her favorite unicorn shirt (of course 🙄), and I only had some eco-friendly lavender dish soap on hand. Figured I'd give it a shot anyway... surprisingly, it worked great. But I've also used regular Dawn before, and it seemed to cut through grease quicker. Maybe the eco stuff just needs a bit more soaking time? Not sure if it's just me though.
