"I remember sitting in class after using whitening gel the night before, and suddenly feeling this sharp, shooting pain out of nowhere—talk about embarrassing."

Ugh, that sounds rough...I've been there too with those whitening gels. Oil pulling's been pretty gentle for me though—no sudden zaps or anything weird like that. The only thing I've noticed is sometimes my jaw gets tired from swishing for so long, lol. Has anyone else noticed their jaw muscles getting sore after oil pulling, or is it just me being weak?

Yeah, jaw fatigue is actually pretty common with oil pulling, especially if you're going the full 15-20 mins. A lot of people don't realize how much muscle work that constant swishing is. Maybe try shorter sessions and build up gradually?

Yeah, totally agree about the jaw fatigue. When my kid first started oil pulling (dentist recommended it for some mild staining), he complained about his jaw feeling sore after just a few minutes. We ended up cutting back to around 5-7 mins at first and gradually increased the time as he got used to it. Also, switching oils helped—coconut oil seemed easier for him than sesame oil, maybe because it's lighter or something?

One thing I noticed too is that people sometimes swish way too vigorously, thinking it'll work better. Gentle swishing actually does the trick just fine and puts less strain on your jaw muscles. Might be worth trying if you haven't already...

I've noticed the same thing about coconut oil being easier. When I first tried oil pulling myself, sesame oil made my jaw ache after just a couple minutes, and honestly, the taste wasn't my favorite either. Switched to coconut oil and it was like night and day—way milder taste, less heavy feeling, and I could swish gently without feeling like I was working overtime. Funny how small tweaks can make such a difference...

Totally get what you're saying about sesame oil. First time I tried oil pulling, I went with sesame too (since that's what a lot of traditional sources recommend), and it was honestly pretty rough—my jaw got tired really fast and the taste was...well, let's just say not my cup of tea. Coconut oil was definitely gentler for me too, though I didn't notice a huge difference in stain removal between the two. But comfort-wise, coconut oil wins hands down. Curious if anyone's tried sunflower oil—heard it's milder but haven't tested it myself yet.
