Has anyone tried natural stuff to fade stains or discoloring?

I've been experimenting a bit lately with natural solutions to tackle some stubborn stains and discoloration, mostly on clothes but also a bit on furniture. So far, lemon juice and baking soda have been my go-tos. Lemon juice seems pretty decent at fading lighter stains, especially if you leave it out in the sun for a while. Baking soda paste is okay-ish for deodorant marks and sweat stains, but not exactly a miracle worker.

The other day, I tried turmeric paste because I read somewhere (can't remember where now, typical me lol) that it helps even out discoloration. Um, big mistake. Now my white shirt has this faint yellowish tint—totally defeats the purpose, right?

Anyway, I'm curious if anyone else has had better luck with different natural products or DIY mixtures. Maybe vinegar or hydrogen peroxide? Kinda hesitant to experiment further without hearing some real experiences first...

Haha, turmeric on white fabric...been there, done that. Learned the hard way too—turmeric stains are stubborn as heck.

"Maybe vinegar or hydrogen peroxide?"

I've actually had decent luck with hydrogen peroxide, especially on white shirts. I spilled coffee on my favorite white tee (typical clumsy me), and peroxide saved the day. Just dabbed it on, let it sit for a bit, then washed normally. Came out pretty clean. Vinegar's okay-ish, but honestly, the smell kinda puts me off. It fades eventually, but still...

One thing I've been curious about is salt water—I remember my grandma swearing by it for wine stains. Never tried it myself though. Anyone brave enough to test that theory?

Hydrogen peroxide's pretty reliable for me too, especially on whites. Salt water though...not convinced it'd do much for turmeric. Wine stains are different—salt helps absorb the liquid before it sets, but turmeric's pigment is another beast entirely. I've had some luck with baking soda paste (just baking soda and water), gently scrubbing it in and letting it sit before washing. Worth a shot maybe?

Hydrogen peroxide has definitely been effective for me as well, particularly on lighter fabrics. Turmeric stains, though...they're notoriously stubborn. I've tried baking soda paste too, and it does help somewhat, especially if you catch the stain early. Another thing I've found useful is sunlight—sounds overly simple, but leaving the stained fabric out in direct sun after washing can significantly fade turmeric discoloration. It might take a couple of rounds, but it's budget-friendly and surprisingly effective.

On the other hand, salt water hasn't done much for me either when it comes to turmeric. It's great for fresh wine spills, like you mentioned, but turmeric pigment seems to bond differently with fibers. I've also experimented with white vinegar diluted in water; it sometimes helps loosen the stain before washing, though results vary depending on fabric type and how long the stain's been sitting. Worth considering if you're looking for another natural option.

Hydrogen peroxide sounds promising, but I'd be nervous about accidentally bleaching something important... Sunlight has helped me a bit too, though it takes patience. Turmeric stains are tough—I feel your pain with the yellowish tint. Hope you find something that works better soon.
