Okay, I thought I'd save a few bucks by making my own stain remover (thanks, Pinterest). But um, now my favorite white shirt has psychedelic yellowish blotches everywhere. Has anyone else had a DIY stain disaster like this?

Yikes, been there. Once tried a DIY whitening toothpaste (thanks again, Pinterest...) and ended up with weird gritty paste that tasted like baking soda and sadness. Didn't even whiten my teeth, just made me paranoid about enamel damage for weeks. Honestly, some things might be better left to the pros—or at least store-bought products. Maybe try soaking your shirt in vinegar or something gentle? But test a tiny spot first... learned that lesson the hard way too. Good luck!
Ugh, I feel your pain. DIY stain removers can be super hit-or-miss. Vinegar might help, but honestly, I've had better luck with hydrogen peroxide for yellowish stains. Just dilute it with water first (about half and half), dab it gently onto a hidden spot to test—wait a few minutes to make sure the fabric doesn't react badly—then carefully apply it to the stained areas. Worked pretty well on my kid's white soccer jersey after a grass-and-mud disaster...worth a shot, maybe?
Hydrogen peroxide, really? Isn't that what dentists use to whiten teeth? Not sure I'd trust it on my favorite shirt... Last time I tried peroxide on fabric, ended up with a weird pale blotch. Maybe I'm just DIY-challenged though, ha.

I've had dentists use peroxide on my teeth plenty of times, and yeah, it whitens them nicely—but fabric's a whole different ballgame. Tried it once on a coffee stain, ended up with a faded patch that looked worse than the stain itself. Lesson learned, I guess...
