Do bridges ever actually feel “normal” in your mouth?

I’ll be honest, I never really got used to my bridge—not in the way some folks say it fades into the background. Maybe it’s because I went with the most affordable option, but it always felt a bit “off.” The first few weeks were the worst, but even now, years later, I still notice it if I’m eating crusty bread or anything sticky. I guess you do adapt, but for me, it never felt like my real teeth. Not sure if pricier bridges feel more natural or what... but at least it’s better than having a gap.

Same here, honestly. Mine’s been in for a couple years and I still notice it every time I chew something chewy or crunchy. It does the job, but yeah, “normal” isn’t really the word I’d use. Maybe the fancy ones are different, but who knows?

That’s been my kid’s experience too. She got her bridge about a year ago, and even now, she’ll mention it feels “weird” if she’s eating something like caramel or popcorn. It’s not painful or anything, just always sort of… there. I guess it’s just the new normal for us.

I remember feeling exactly like that after getting my bridge—took ages before it stopped feeling like a foreign object. It’s not painful, just always sort of… there, like you said. Over time, I noticed it less, especially with foods I chewed carefully. Caramel and popcorn still feel odd sometimes, though. Guess you just adapt and it becomes part of your routine.

Totally get this—caramel is basically my bridge’s arch-nemesis. I still have moments where it feels a bit weird, like there’s a tiny pebble tucked in there, but honestly, most days I forget it’s even there unless I’m eating something super sticky or crunchy. It kind of fades into the background after a while. You’re right, it just becomes your new normal...even if popcorn tries to ruin the party now and then.
