Water flossers are so weird at first, right? I actually bought a pretty cheap one off Amazon because I didn’t want to commit to the fancy models. The noise still gets me sometimes, but it’s not as bad as I expected. Did you try different tips or pressure settings? I found the lowest setting was way more gentle on my gums. Also, does anyone else feel like the floss picks run out super fast, or am I just using them wrong?
I’ve seen a lot of folks get hooked on floss picks, but honestly, I’m a bit skeptical about how well they clean compared to regular string floss.
You’re not alone—those things seem to disappear on me too. The water flosser, though, I found it took a couple weeks to get used to the pressure settings before my gums stopped feeling weird. Funny how everyone’s mouth seems to have its own preferences.“does anyone else feel like the floss picks run out super fast, or am I just using them wrong?”
I get what you mean about the floss picks running out fast—sometimes I feel like I need two just to get through my braces. String floss is a pain with all the wires, though, so I kinda gave up on it. The water flosser was weird at first for me too, but now I can’t imagine not using it. Has anyone tried those reusable floss threaders? Wondering if they’re worth the hassle or just another thing to keep track of...

- Gave the reusable threaders a shot last year. Honestly, they worked, but I kept losing them... like, every other week. Maybe it’s just me being scatterbrained.
- If you’re into gadgets, have you looked at those tiny silicone “smart” threaders? They’re supposed to last longer and are easier to clean. Kinda neat, but not exactly a game changer for me.
- Water flossers are cool tech, but I feel like they don’t get everything out, especially with sticky stuff (looking at you, caramel popcorn).
- Floss picks are super convenient but yeah, I go through a ton with my aligners too. Wish there was a more eco-friendly version that actually worked.
- For me, string floss with a cheap plastic threader is still the best for stubborn spots. Annoying? Yes. But at least I know it’s working.
Not sure there’s a perfect solution—just gotta find what bugs you least!

I totally get this. I tried the reusable threaders too, and while they did the job, I kept misplacing them or forgetting to clean them properly. It just added one more step to my routine. Water flossers are fun, but I agree—popcorn hulls and sticky stuff still need good old string floss. For now, I’m sticking with threaders even if it takes a bit longer. At least I feel like I’m getting everything out.
