Grinding teeth at night...what if you ignored it?

I tried ignoring my grinding for a while because I hated the idea of sleeping with something in my mouth. Big mistake...ended up chipping a tooth and waking up with headaches almost every morning. Finally caved and got a custom guardβ€”felt weird at first, but after a week or two, I barely noticed it. Definitely beats the anxiety of wondering if I'll wake up missing half a tooth one day, lol.

Haha, I feel you on that anxiety. I ignored my grinding for years because I thought it was just a minor annoyance...until one morning, I woke up and found a small piece of my molar on the pillow. Not fun. Got fitted for a guard shortly after, and honestly, it became second nature pretty quickly. Glad you got yours sorted before it got worseβ€”smart move.

I ignored mine for ages too, thinking it wasn't a big deal...until my dentist showed me how worn down my back teeth had gotten. Honestly, getting a guard was annoying at first, but now I can't sleep without it. Better safe than sorry, trust me.

Same here, I put it off forever thinking it was just stress or something temporary. Then my dentist pointed out tiny cracks forming in my molars...yikes. Took a while to get used to the guard, but now it's second nature. Hang in there, it gets easier.

Glad you caught it earlyβ€”those tiny cracks can turn into bigger issues down the line. I've seen people end up needing crowns or even root canals from ignoring grinding for too long. It's great that you've adjusted to the guard; it really does become second nature after a while. Did your dentist mention anything about daytime habits or stress management techniques to help reduce grinding overall? Curious if anyone's found success with those approaches...
