"Storage definitely matters too...leaving it damp in a gym bag isn't ideal (guilty of that myself sometimes)."

Haha, glad I'm not the only one guilty of the gym bag thing. Honestly, I've been using a generic mouthguard for about 6 months now, and it's already looking pretty rough. I'd love to try a custom one eventually, but they're pricey. Good to hear it might help with headaches thoughβ€”maybe worth saving up for after all. Until then, guess I'll just keep rinsing mine and hoping for the best...

Yeah, those generic ones can get pretty worn out fast, especially if you're not super careful with them. I've been there too, haha. One thing that's helped me stretch mine out a bit longer is soaking it in a denture-cleaning tablet every now and thenβ€”it gets rid of the funky smell and buildup. Custom ones are definitely an investment, but honestly, the comfort difference alone made it worth it for me. Might be worth checking out if headaches are an issue...

I've never tried the denture tablet trick, that's actually pretty clever. Mine usually last around 6 months or so before they start looking sketchy... but yeah, headaches were a big issue for me too until I switched to a custom one. Totally agree it's worth it in the long run.

Hmm, mine's been going strong for almost a year now, but I do clean it pretty obsessively. Honestly, the denture tablet thing sounds smart, but I'm kinda nervous about chemicals... warm water and mild soap works fine for me.

Mine usually lasts around 8-9 months, but honestly, by month 7 it's already looking kinda questionable. 😂 I tried the denture tablet thing onceβ€”worked pretty well actually, but those tablets aren't exactly cheap if you're using them regularly. Warm water and soap is definitely easier on the wallet. Have you guys noticed if certain brands hold up better than others? I'm still experimenting...
