Yeah, the drool thing was real for me at first. I felt like I needed a towel on my pillow for the first few nights, but it settled down after maybe a week or so. Honestly, compared to the boil-and-bite ones, the custom guard just felt way less bulky and I didn’t wake up with jaw pain anymore. Did you notice your teeth shifting at all with the over-the-counter ones? I always worried they weren’t fitting right.

My kid actually hated the boil-and-bite ones. I was super paranoid about his teeth moving too, especially after I saw a gap that wasn’t there before… Not sure if it was the guard or just growing up, but we switched to a custom one and it’s been way smoother. Less drama at bedtime, at least!

That’s interesting about the gap—did it close up again after switching to the custom one, or is it still there? I always wondered if those boil-and-bite guards actually mess with tooth position or if it’s just a coincidence when things shift. My teen swears the custom one “feels less weird,” but honestly, I think he just likes complaining less at bedtime now. Did your kid notice any difference in how easy it was to talk or drink water with the custom guard?

I’ve wondered about that too. My kid had a tiny gap show up after a few months with the boil-and-bite, but it closed up after switching to the custom one—so maybe there’s something to it? The custom guard definitely made it easier for him to talk and drink at night. He still mumbles sometimes, but way less drooling and complaining. Honestly, I think the fit just makes everything less annoying overall.

Interesting—my experience with boil-and-bite guards has actually been fine, at least in terms of shifting teeth. I’ve used them for years and haven’t noticed any gaps or movement, but maybe that’s just luck or my bite is less sensitive? The custom ones do feel nicer, but I can’t say the cheaper ones ever caused me real issues. Maybe it depends on how well you fit them at home...
