RE: What findings make retreatment a realistic option for a previously treated tooth?
Since the question also asks about follow-up, it may help to compare what each option involves after the procedure. Ask what definitive restoration the tooth would need after retreatment and when it could be placed. Afte...
RE: Sealants for Kids: When Did Your Dentist Recommend Them?
We ended up just waiting, too. I kept asking if we could do it sooner because my kid had a couple of deep grooves that looked risky to me, but the dentist said insurance wouldn’t cover until the teeth were “fully erupted...
RE: What helped my mouth heal after implant surgery
Interesting, I actually stuck with saltwater rinses for almost two weeks because I was nervous about using anything else. Did you notice any difference in swelling or discomfort once you switched to the mouthwash? I was ...
RE: Braces in your 30s: did you know teeth can move for life?
My teeth started shifting in my late 20s, and I honestly thought retainers were just for teenagers. I used a boil-and-bite guard for a while too, but it made my jaw feel weird in the mornings. Have you noticed your bite ...
RE: What would you do if your parent refused to see the dentist?
I totally get the “if it ain’t broke” mindset - my dad’s the same way. Did your dad ever mention what made him finally agree to go to the dental school? My mom only budged after she had tooth pain that wouldn’t quit. I’v...
RE: WEIRD TRICKS PEOPLE SWEAR BY FOR WOBBLY TEETH
I totally get the urge to just yank it out, especially when it’s dangling and driving you nuts. But honestly, patience worked best for me. When I was a kid, my mom swore by apples too, but half the time the tooth just wo...
RE: How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?
That ice cream moment sounds way too familiar. I thought I was good after my extraction, then tried to eat chips a bit too soon and regretted it instantly. Did you find warm drinks helped at all, or just made things more...
RE: Tackling decay in 13 teeth
Not just you - I do that too, especially after getting braces. It’s like, one day there’s a new spot and I panic. Prevident helped with sensitivity but yeah, no whitening for me either. Do you notice any weird texture ch...
RE: How did you get your kid to ditch the binky?
That’s interesting - did your daughter ever get attached to thumb-sucking or anything else after the binky fairy? I had a pacifier habit as a kid, and my mom swears I just switched to biting my blanket... which, looking ...
RE: That first week after wisdom teeth removal… did anyone else swear by ice packs?
I totally get that. I ended up using ice packs constantly for the first two days, but after that, I was kind of over it. My jaw just felt stiff, and switching to a warm compress was actually more soothing than I expected...
RE: That first week after wisdom teeth removal… did anyone else swear by ice packs?
I totally get where you’re coming from - being nervous is normal. I had my wisdom teeth out last year and honestly, the ice packs were kind of a mixed bag for me. The first day, I thought they helped a bit with the swell...
RE: Which one actually gets your teeth cleaner: blasting with water or good ol’ string floss?
I had braces last year and string floss was a nightmare, honestly. I ended up getting a cheap countertop water flosser off Amazon - think it was under $40. It’s not as fancy as the big brands but it cleared out stuff my ...
RE: Weirdest pain after getting braces tightened - normal or not?
I get what you mean, but do you think if they went lighter on the tightening, it’d just drag the whole process out longer? I’ve had a couple of appointments where my ortho eased up because I complained, and then it felt ...
RE: Which Feels Better: Custom Vs. Boil-And-Bite Mouthguards?
That’s interesting about the gap - did it close up again after switching to the custom one, or is it still there? I always wondered if those boil-and-bite guards actually mess with tooth position or if it’s just a coinci...
RE: Keeping Teeth Clean Without Breaking the Bank: My Cheap Floss Routine
Honestly, I felt the same way about those silicone flossers at first - like, why mess with what works? But after getting braces, regular floss just got impossible for me. The silicone ones looked like mini torture device...
