Metal vs plastic vs copper tongue scrapers—why can’t one just work?

I actually switched back to using a spoon for a bit too—never thought I’d admit that, but it’s weirdly effective.

Honestly, the spoon thing is underrated. I tried one when my plastic scraper snapped mid-swipe (gross), and it actually worked better than I expected. But yeah, metal ones are just too aggressive for my half-asleep self... feels like tongue CrossFit or something. Does anyone else feel like copper makes your breath smell weird? Or maybe that's just me being paranoid.

Funny you mention the copper thing—I’ve had a few patients say it leaves a weird aftertaste or even a metallic smell, so you’re not alone. Personally, I tried copper scrapers out of curiosity and didn’t love the taste either. Stainless steel’s been my go-to, but I get how it can feel a bit harsh, especially first thing in the morning. Honestly, if a spoon works, there’s no harm in sticking with it... sometimes the simple stuff just does the job better.
