The day my tongue cleaner became a secret weapon

Once I started using one, I realized how much I’d been missing even when I brushed really well. My breath felt fresher, but maybe it’s just being more aware and not skipping steps since braces.

That part really hits home. My kiddo’s on year two with braces, and I’ve noticed the same thing—when we added a tongue cleaner to the nightly routine, it was like a lightbulb moment. At first, I thought it was just another gimmick, but honestly, he started complaining less about “brace breath.” I still have to remind him sometimes (teenagers...), but it does seem to make a difference. Technique is everything, though—he still manages to splash toothpaste up the mirror, but at least his breath is better.

Couldn’t agree more—tongue cleaners seemed like overkill to me too, but wow, they do the trick. My teen’s still a pro at toothpaste art on the bathroom mirror, but at least the dragon breath is mostly gone. Small victories, right?

Definitely a win in my book. I was skeptical about tongue cleaners too, but honestly, they’re cheap and last forever. Way easier than getting my kid to floss without a full-on negotiation every night. If it keeps the breath under control, that’s worth the couple bucks for sure.

Totally get what you mean about the tongue cleaner—honestly, I was super nervous to try anything new with my mouth, but it’s been a game changer for me too. Didn’t expect something so simple to actually make a difference, especially when brushing and mouthwash seemed like enough. It’s kind of wild how much fresher things feel now.

Trying to get my little one to use it is a whole other story… but at least I don’t have to stress as much about my own breath when I’m talking close up anymore. Small victories for sure. If it helps even a bit with anxiety about bad breath, I’ll take it.

Totally relate to that “game changer” feeling—wasn’t sure it’d even work, but here I am, checking my breath way less obsessively. Didn’t expect to see actual gunk come off, either… kinda gross but weirdly satisfying. My kid just laughs and calls it “tongue tickling.” I’ll take less stress where I can get it.
