When my kid knocked his tooth loose at the playground, I went straight into “parent on a mission” mode. Quick check—no blood, still attached, but wobbly. I iced it, kept him on applesauce and yogurt, and called the dentist first thing. Didn’t bother with the “wait and see”—I’d rather be the overreacting parent than risk it getting worse. Insurance barely helped, but at least we avoided a full extraction. The biggest challenge was convincing him not to poke at it with his tongue every five seconds...

Honestly, I think you did exactly the right thing. Waiting it out might work for some, but dental stuff can spiral fast, especially with kids. I’m with you—better to be the “overreacting” parent than the one dealing with a bigger mess later. And yeah, getting a kid to stop poking at a loose tooth is next-level hard... mine kept wiggling his until it finally just fell out during dinner. The relief when the dentist says it’s all good is worth every bit of hassle, even if insurance barely chips in.
