That’s pretty much what I’ve heard too—keeping the tooth moist is the main thing. I remember years back, my grandson lost a front tooth during a playground mishap. We had no clue what to do, so we stuck it in a cup of water and rushed to the dentist. Turns out, water isn’t great either; it can actually damage those root cells if the tooth sits in it too long. The dentist said milk or even saline is better, which surprised me at the time.

Gauze always seemed like the logical choice for bleeding, but for the tooth itself, I’d probably just grab whatever’s handy—wet paper towel, napkin, whatever. Ice is good for pain and swelling, but yeah, not for saving the tooth. Those little Save-A-Tooth kits sound smart, but honestly, I’ve never remembered to keep one around.

It’s wild how much you learn after the fact... Wish dentists handed out “what to do if you lose a tooth” cards with your regular checkup.
