Had a tooth pulled last week, and man, the pain afterward was brutal. Dentist said it was dry socket, gave me some medicated dressing but it didn't help much. Friend suggested clove oil—sounded weird but I was desperate. Dabbed a bit on cotton and stuck it in there...burned like heck at first but then relief kicked in pretty quick. Anyone else tried clove oil for this? Curious if it worked as well for others or if I just got lucky.

Yeah, clove oil really saved me too after my wisdom teeth came out. Dentist recommended some expensive medicated gel, but I was tight on cash so did some googling instead—found clove oil at the local health store for like five bucks. Burned like crazy at first (thought I'd made a huge mistake, lol), but after a few minutes it numbed everything nicely. Did you dilute yours at all or just straight-up dab it? Heard diluting can help with that initial burn.

I definitely recommend diluting it first, especially if you're using it on a younger patient. When my daughter had her tooth pulled, I mixed about 2-3 drops of clove oil with a teaspoon of coconut oil. Coconut oil works great because it's gentle, antibacterial, and helps the clove oil spread evenly. She still complained about a slight sting at first, but nothing too intense—definitely not the "burned like crazy" experience you had, haha.

Also, make sure to test a tiny bit on your gums first to check sensitivity. Everyone reacts differently, and it's better to start mild and build up if needed. Did you notice any irritation afterward from using it straight-up? I've heard some people get redness or soreness if they don't dilute it enough.

I've actually used clove oil straight-up before without diluting, and honestly, it wasn't that bad—just a quick sting, then numbness kicked in. But I get why diluting might be better for kids or sensitive gums. Coconut oil's a cool idea too; I've only tried olive oil myself. Did you find coconut oil affected how long the numbing lasted? Curious if different carriers change the effectiveness somehow...

I've used clove oil both diluted and straight, and honestly, the numbing effect felt about the same duration-wise. Using coconut oil did seem gentler on my gums though—olive oil felt a bit heavier somehow. Dry socket is no joke...had it once after wisdom tooth removal and clove oil was a lifesaver for me too. Dentist mentioned it's actually the eugenol in cloves that's antiseptic and numbing, so probably why it's been a dental remedy forever.
