Totally agree about coconut oil feeling lighter than olive oil. Olive oil always felt kinda thick and sticky to me, especially when you're already dealing with soreness or sensitivity. Coconut oil just seems to melt into the gums better, plus it has natural antibacterial properties too, which might give it an extra edge.
And yeah, eugenol is definitely the star ingredient in clove oil. It's been used in dentistry forever because it's not only numbing but also antiseptic and anti-inflammatory. I remember reading somewhere that dentists used to pack dry sockets with gauze soaked in eugenol-based solutionsβprobably still do in some places. When I had my wisdom teeth out, my dentist recommended diluted clove oil specifically because straight-up eugenol can sometimes irritate sensitive tissues if used too frequently or undiluted.
Glad you found relief with it though...dry socket pain is seriously brutal.
