I totally get wanting more than just mushy soup and applesauce—trust me, I’d go stir crazy too. But honestly, I still get a little nervous when people start adding in foods, even soft ones, before things really settle down. I’ve seen folks end up back in the chair because something tiny got stuck and triggered more pain or even infection. That said, mashed potatoes and eggs are usually pretty safe if you’re careful and rinse gently after eating. Just... don’t rush it. The last thing you want is to drag this out longer than necessary.

I get where you’re coming from about being cautious, but honestly, I found that sticking to just liquids for too long made me feel even worse—kinda weak and cranky. When I had my dry socket, I started with super soft foods like yogurt and overcooked pasta pretty early, just tiny bites and lots of rinsing. Never had any issues, and it actually helped my mood a lot. Maybe it’s about listening to your body and not pushing it, but also not being afraid of gentle variety.

Totally get that—liquids only made me feel like I was running on empty too. I remember being so desperate for something with texture that applesauce tasted gourmet. For me, cottage cheese and mashed avocado were lifesavers. Just had to take it slow and rinse like crazy after each bite.

Funny you mention applesauce—I got so sick of sweet stuff after a few days, I started dipping mashed potatoes in plain Greek yogurt just for something different. Cottage cheese was a win for me too, though I never thought I'd crave it. Did you ever try scrambled eggs, or did those feel too risky with the socket? I was nervous but ended up mixing them super soft and it worked out.

I debated eggs for a while, actually. The texture seemed ideal, but I worried about tiny bits getting stuck and causing irritation. Ended up trying them after a week—super soft, almost like a custard, and ate tiny bites on the opposite side. No issues for me, thankfully. Greek yogurt with potatoes is such a creative combo... I might have to steal that if I ever go through this again. Cottage cheese never appealed to me before, but desperate times, right?
