That sounds super familiar—I always hear that salt water is supposed to help, but for me it just made things feel raw and didn’t really calm anything down. I get what you mean about the paranoia, especially when there’s bleeding involved. Did your dentist mention if it was okay for your gums to bleed a bit, or was that a sign to stop? I’ve had that happen and got kind of freaked out, too.

I ended up trying a prescription rinse once after my wisdom teeth came out, and yeah, the taste was awful but the swelling went down almost overnight. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just worth paying extra for peace of mind, especially if you’re prone to infection or just get anxious about it. Have you noticed any side effects from the rinse? I always worry about staining or weird reactions.

Honestly, whatever keeps things under control and helps you stress less is probably the right call. Gums can be so stubborn...

- Totally relate to the salt water thing—everyone swears by it, but for me it just made my mouth feel like I’d gargled with the ocean (not in a good way).
- Bleeding gums freak me out, too. My dentist said a *little* bleeding is normal if your gums are inflamed, but if it’s like, a horror movie scene, maybe time to chill out and call them.
- Prescription rinses: tried one after a rough cleaning, and yeah, tasted like medicine mixed with sadness... but it actually helped. Didn’t notice any weird side effects except everything tasted off for a day or two. No staining so far.
- I get being paranoid about infections—sometimes peace of mind is worth the extra cost, especially if you’re already stressed about your teeth.
- Gums really are stubborn. I’ve started using a super soft brush and just going easy. Not sure if it’s “dentist approved,” but at least my mouth doesn’t feel like it’s been through a cheese grater anymore.

Hang in there—sounds like you’re doing all the right stuff, even if it’s trial and error half the time.
