I've always been pretty good about brushing, but flossing...um, not so much. Anyway, I started noticing my gums were kinda red and sensitive, so I grabbed one of those mouthwash things that's supposed to help with gum health. Been using it for a couple weeks now, and honestly, it feels like it's helping. Less redness and soreness, you know? Curious if anyone else tried something similar and noticed a difference or if it's just me imagining things...
I've been thinking about trying one of those mouthwashes too, but honestly, I'm a bit skeptical. Do you think it's really the mouthwash helping, or could it just be that you're paying more attention to your gums now? I mean, I've had similar issues—redness, sensitivity—and usually just tried to brush gently and hope for the best (flossing regularly is still a struggle for me too...). But if the mouthwash actually makes a noticeable difference, maybe it's worth the extra few bucks. Did you pick up one of the pricier brands or just a generic store-brand type? I'm always cautious about spending money on stuff that might not really do anything.
"Did you pick up one of the pricier brands or just a generic store-brand type?"
I went generic at first (because, you know, budget life), but honestly didn't notice much difference. Then I tried one of the pricier ones my ortho recommended—figured braces were already draining my wallet, what's a few more bucks, right? Surprisingly, it actually helped. Could be placebo, but my gums feel way less angry now. Still terrible at flossing though... baby steps, I guess.
I've actually had the opposite experience. When my gums started acting up, I went straight for the pricier brand my dentist recommended, thinking it'd be worth the extra money. Honestly though, it didn't seem to make much difference for me. Maybe it's just me being overly cautious (which I tend to be...), but I ended up switching back to a generic sensitive toothpaste and focusing more on gentle brushing techniques and flossing regularly. That seemed to help more than anything else I've tried so far.
I do get what you're saying about flossing though—it's always been a struggle for me too. I still dread it every night, but I force myself through it because I'm anxious about gum issues getting worse. Guess everyone's gums react differently...
Yeah, flossing can be a real pain, especially when your gums are already sensitive. Have you tried those floss picks instead of regular floss? I found them way easier to handle when my gums were acting up. Also, totally agree about gentle brushing—sometimes less really is more. Sounds like you're already figuring out what works best for you, so keep at it... gum issues can be stubborn, but consistency usually pays off.
