Same here with the saltwater—everyone swears by it, but my gums just felt stingy and I couldn’t keep up with the taste either. I switched to a super soft brush after my first gum freakout, and honestly, that helped way more than anything else. It’s kind of wild how much pressure I didn’t realize I was using until my dentist pointed it out. Also, water flossers are awesome in theory, but mine turned the sink into a mini tidal wave... glad it’s not just me dealing with the mess.
Saltwater’s always hyped up, but honestly, same—I just felt like my mouth was in survival mode after every rinse. The soft brush thing is underrated, for sure. Ever tried one of those “extra” soft ones? Feels like you’re brushing with a cloud, but it actually works. As for water flossers... yeah, first time I used mine, I basically redecorated the whole bathroom. Anyone else find that manual flossing is less dramatic, or am I just uncoordinated?
Manual flossing is definitely less of a circus for me, at least compared to the water flosser. I remember the first time I tried one of those—thought I’d mastered it after watching a quick video, but five seconds in, there was water on the mirror, the floor, my shirt... you name it. It’s efficient once you get the hang of it, but yeah, not exactly mess-free at first.
As for soft brushes, I’m with you. Swapping to an “ultra-soft” brush made a huge difference for my gums. I used to think firmer bristles would be better for plaque, but honestly, my gum line was just getting wrecked. With the softer ones, my gums stopped looking so puffy and angry all the time.
Saltwater rinses... mixed feelings. They work in a pinch, but I always feel like my mouth’s been through a desert afterward. I’ve had better luck with an alcohol-free mouthwash for daily use—it doesn’t dry things out as much.
I guess everyone’s got their thing, but for gum puffiness after flossing, being gentle and not overdoing it seems to help me most.

Same here—saltwater dries my mouth out too much. Do you find the alcohol-free mouthwash stings at all? I tried one, but my gums felt weird for a while. Maybe I’m using it wrong?
