Been thinking about switching to an electric toothbrush cuz my dentist keeps nagging me about brushing too hard (oops, guilty). Narrowed it down to Sonicare ProtectiveClean and Oral-B Pro GumCare. Both seem good for sensitive gums, but I can't decide. Sonicare seems gentler maybe, but Oral-B has that small round brush head...you know, easier to reach tricky spots? Anyone tried both and can weigh in on comfort and effectiveness?

I've actually tried both, and honestly, they're both solid choices. Sonicare does feel gentler overall—I remember when I first switched, it almost felt like it wasn't doing enough because it was so gentle, but my dentist said my gums looked way better after a few months. On the other hand, Oral-B's smaller round head really does help with those tricky spots behind the molars. Maybe consider if your main issue is gum sensitivity or reaching tight spaces? Either way, your gums will thank you.

I've mostly stuck with Sonicare, but honestly found it a bit too gentle sometimes—almost like I wasn't getting a thorough clean. Ended up switching to one of those ultra-soft manual toothbrushes (like Curaprox) and it's been surprisingly better for my sensitive gums. Not knocking electric brushes at all, just mentioning that gentler isn't always better for everyone...depends on what feels right for you.

Interesting take on Sonicare feeling too gentle—I had a similar experience, but weirdly enough, Oral-B worked better for me. Have you tried Oral-B at all? Their brush heads rotate rather than vibrate, and I found it gave me a deeper clean without irritating my gums. My orthodontist actually recommended it when I had braces because it got around the brackets better.

But you're totally right about Curaprox brushes—those ultra-soft bristles are a lifesaver if your gums are sensitive or inflamed. I still keep one around for days when my gums feel extra tender. Maybe it's just about having options and switching things up depending on how your mouth feels that day?

Also curious if you've experimented with different toothpaste brands. Sometimes the toothpaste itself makes a bigger difference than the brush, at least in my experience...

I've been using Oral-B since getting braces, and yeah, the small round head does help around brackets. Still worry sometimes about pressing too hard tho...might try Sonicare eventually just to see if it's gentler on my gums. Toothpaste definitely matters too, some brands feel harsher somehow.
