RE: What signs help you identify poor aligner tracking early?
I totally get what you mean about the mental game. I used to obsess over those tiny gaps too, but honestly, my ortho said something similar - sometimes the aligner just doesn’t sit flush because your teeth are moving, no...
RE: Getting comfortable with a big smile even when your gums show
I can relate to that whole “covering your mouth” thing - been there, done that, especially after my braces came off and I realized how much gum was showing. I used to think everyone was staring at my smile, but honestly,...
RE: Why does every makeover seem to fade after a few weeks?
That’s honestly how I started tracking my aligner wear - just a cheap notebook and a pen. Those habit apps were too much to keep up with, especially when I was already dealing with sore teeth. Do you find that writing st...
RE: What Helped Me Heal Faster After That Annoying Root Tip Surgery
Yeah, the saltwater rinses were a pain for me too, but I noticed the same thing - less swelling, and it just felt cleaner overall. Did you ever try using a syringe to rinse (the kind they give after wisdom teeth)? I foun...
RE: How often do you actually swap out your night guard?
I mostly go by feel, honestly. If it’s not hugging my teeth right or I start waking up with jaw pain again, that’s my sign. Sometimes I’ll notice tiny cracks or rough spots, but usually it’s the fit first. Anyone else’s ...
RE: Do Whitening Strips Actually Work for You? Quick Poll
I’ve actually been curious about those trays for a while, especially since strips just don’t sit right on my teeth. Mine aren’t super crooked, but there’s enough overlap in a couple spots that the strips always seem to m...
RE: Jaw pain relief: Did you see that new study on splints vs. surgery?
Yeah, stress totally messes with my jaw pain too. It’s like the minute I’m on a deadline or dealing with a tough week, my whole face just tenses up. I clench without even realizing it, especially at night. My orthodontis...
RE: Surprised by how much gum health affects diabetes and heart issues
Never got a heads-up from my dentist or doc about this either, which is wild considering how connected everything apparently is. I’m in braces now, so I’m brushing and flossing like it’s my second job, but I always figur...
RE: That first week after wisdom teeth removal… did anyone else swear by ice packs?
I totally get what you mean about the ice packs - those things were glued to my face for the first two days. I’ve always heard the “first 48 hours” rule too, but I never really knew if it was just a myth or not. For me, ...
RE: How I deal with a busted tooth until I can see the dentist
That’s the tricky part. I’ve had a chipped molar and used those kits too, but honestly, I only felt “safe” waiting if there was zero pain and no weird taste or swelling. The second I noticed throbbing or even mild gum pu...
RE: How I deal with a busted tooth until I can see the dentist
I totally get what you mean - chewing with that stuff in place is a challenge. Did you ever try using orthodontic wax instead of the DenTek material? I found the ortho wax a bit softer and less likely to come loose, but ...
RE: Getting used to new dentures: slow and steady or all at once?
That totally makes sense - my gums were super sore the first week too, especially after I tried eating a sandwich way too soon. I ended up with a couple of pressure spots that took days to calm down. Did you find any foo...
RE: How I deal with a busted tooth until I can see the dentist
Dental wax is a total lifesaver, but I feel like it always falls off at the worst possible moment - like right before lunch. Did you find it stayed in place for you? I tried the clove oil trick too and honestly, I couldn...
RE: Making oral biopsies less scary: my comfort hacks
I tried lemon too, but it stung like crazy on my sore spots - maybe I’m just unlucky with that one. Weirdly enough, I found that chewing sugar-free gum (once I was allowed to) did more for me than pudding or rinses. The ...
