So yesterday my dentist convinced me to switch to one of those fancy electric toothbrushes, and last night I swear the thing started humming some weird spacey tune by itself at 2 am... um, anyone else had weird experiences with these things?

Had something similar happen when I first got mine—turned out it was just the battery indicator going off randomly. Freaked me out too at first, thought I had a ghost or something. Maybe check if there's a timer or some weird setting you accidentally activated? These gadgets can be pretty quirky until you get used to them... Hang in there, it's probably nothing sci-fi!

Had a similar scare myself when I first switched to one of those electric brushes. Middle of the night, bathroom's dark, and suddenly this buzzing starts outta nowhere... nearly jumped out of my skin thinking something paranormal was going on. Turns out I'd accidentally activated some timer setting that made it pulse every 30 seconds. Took me a good week to figure it out. These things definitely have their quirks, but you'll get used to it eventually... hang in there!

Haha, your story brought back memories. When I first got mine, I swear it felt like I was brushing my teeth with some alien gadget from Area 51. Took me ages to get used to the buzzing and pulsing—kept thinking I'd broken it or something. One night, I accidentally knocked it off the counter, and it started vibrating loudly on the tile floor. Nearly gave me a heart attack thinking there was some critter loose in the bathroom.

But honestly, once you get past the initial weirdness, they're pretty great. My dentist says my gums have never looked better, and I actually look forward to brushing now (never thought I'd say that). Give it a bit of time, and you'll probably end up loving your sci-fi toothbrush too... or at least tolerating it enough not to jump every time it buzzes unexpectedly. Hang in there, you're definitely not alone in this!

Haha, reading these posts makes me feel a bit better about my own electric toothbrush adventures. When I first switched, I kept accidentally pressing the wrong button and cycling through all these weird modes—felt like I was piloting a spaceship rather than brushing my teeth. Took me a solid week to figure out the difference between "gum care" and "deep clean," and even now I'm not totally convinced they're not just marketing gimmicks.

But jokes aside, I agree they're worth the initial awkwardness. My dentist pointed out a noticeable improvement in plaque buildup after just a couple months, and my teeth genuinely feel cleaner throughout the day. The humming and buzzing does take some getting used to, though—I still occasionally jump when it randomly vibrates on the charger at night. Glad I'm not the only one who's had a mini heart attack from that!
