RE: How does toothpaste guidance change as a child learns to spit?
If swallowing keeps happening despite reminders, I’d ask the dentist whether a different brushing time or position at the sink might make spitting easier. A routine change may help without changing the toothpaste amount;...
RE: Trying to decide if implant dentures are worth it - what swayed you?
That anxiety about eating in public really struck a chord for me. I remember skipping out on dinners with friends because I was worried my dentures would shift or, worse, pop out if I laughed too hard. The cost of implan...
RE: Little tricks for fixing slightly crooked teeth without braces
I totally get where you’re coming from. I spent ages worrying about a little gap in my front teeth - honestly, I was convinced it was the first thing everyone saw. Turns out, most people never even noticed until I pointe...
RE: When your favorite water bottle starts to smell funky
That’s so true about the gaskets and lids - those little parts are like a playground for germs. I’ve had a couple bottles where no matter how much I scrubbed, there was always this faint musty smell that just wouldn’t qu...
RE: Retainer glued in or popping one in and out?
Ain’t that the truth. I’ve had my fixed bottom wire for years now, and honestly, I still have the odd night where I just stare at it and sigh. My hands aren’t as steady as they used to be, so threading floss under there ...
RE: What’s your go-to after jaw surgery: wax, salt water, or just toughing it out?
That flashlight and mirror routine sounds way too familiar... I remember after my jaw surgery, I was convinced every little crumb would turn into an infection. The paranoia is real. Wax never worked for me either - just ...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
I totally get what you mean about the gadgets. I bought one of those fancy jaw massagers a while back, thinking it’d be the magic fix, but honestly, it just made me more aware of how sore I already was. Ended up back wit...
RE: Worried about 6 root canals
This is so relatable - honestly, half the time I look at my X-rays and it’s like trying to read a weather map. But you’re right, just having them in hand feels like you’re not totally at the mercy of the dentist’s word. ...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
I get what you’re saying about the toothpaste - honestly, I used to think switching brands was the answer too. But in my case, gentle brushing and flossing every day made a bigger difference than any fancy paste. My dent...
RE: Why do kids always seem to chip a tooth at the worst possible moment?
I totally get where you’re coming from - my grandson chipped his front tooth on the playground last year and I remember feeling just as anxious. It’s hard not to worry, especially when you see that sharp edge and they ke...
RE: How often do you actually swap out your night guard?
That really hits home. It’s funny how something as small as a night guard can make you so aware of what’s going on in your life. I’ve had a similar experience - thought my jaw was just stiff from age or sleeping weird, b...
RE: Getting my bite back on track: anyone else with a weird jaw journey?
That all sounds really familiar. I remember when my jaw pain first started, the dentist immediately suggested a night guard too. Like you, it wasn’t a magic fix for me either - actually felt like it moved the discomfort ...
RE: Anyone dealt with wobbly teeth? What worked for you?
I get what you’re saying about the wobbly feeling being normal, but I’ve gotta say, for me it lasted longer than just a few days after adjustments. Sometimes it was a couple weeks before things felt steady again, and I r...
RE: If your insurance barely covers dental work, how would you handle a pricey root canal?
That anxiety is real. I remember just staring at the estimate, feeling my stomach drop. Ended up asking for a payment plan - wasn’t thrilled, but at least it spread things out. The whole process left me pretty rattled, b...
