Honestly, I thought the electric brush would be a game changer for my son, but he lost interest after a couple weeks. The timer was cool at first, but now he just zones out and waits for it to beep. When we switched back to manual, he actually paid more attention—maybe because he felt more in control? I do like the pressure sensors on some electrics, though. Do other kids actually stick with those features long-term, or is it just my kid who gets bored fast?

I get where you’re coming from, but honestly, I think the electric brushes are underrated for kids—especially for those of us with braces or other ortho gear. My nephew got bored with his too, but once we started letting him pick his own brush head designs and made a game out of “beating the timer,” he got into it again. Sometimes it’s just about switching up the routine. Manual brushes are fine, but I swear my teeth have been cleaner since I stuck with electric, even if the novelty wears off after a bit.

I totally get that. I was super nervous about switching to electric because I thought it would feel weird or too intense, but honestly? It’s helped me a ton, especially since I’m not always the most thorough when I’m anxious or in a rush. The timer thing is actually kind of comforting for me—it’s like, okay, just get through these two minutes and you’re done. Still learning to not overthink it, but my dentist said my gums look way better now.

We switched my daughter to an electric brush last year, and it’s honestly been a game changer. She actually looks forward to brushing now (the music helps). I used to have to stand over her with the manual one, but now she’s more independent. The timer is such a lifesaver for us too. Sometimes she complains it tickles, but overall her checkups have gone way smoother since the switch.

I keep wondering if the electric ones actually clean better, or if it’s just that kids like them more. My little guy says the buzzing freaks him out, and he’s super sensitive to noise. Do you think the timer really helps, or is it just a gimmick? I’m nervous about switching since he finally tolerates the manual brush...
