Went to the dentist yesterday and got totally busted for my usual "yeah, I floss regularly" line. She just gave me this look, you know, like she knew I was full of it. Then she calmly showed me the x-rays and pointed out exactly where I wasn't flossing enough. Felt like a kid caught sneaking cookies lol. Anyone else been caught out like this by their dentist?
Haha, dentists always know... but honestly, why even fib about flossing? I used to do the same until I realized flossing actually makes dentist visits way less awkward. Now I just admit it upfront if I've been slackingβsaves me from that guilt-trip stare. Plus, dentists probably hear the flossing fib like 20 times a day, so you're not fooling anyone anyway.
Haha, totally relate to this. My kid used to fib about flossing too, until one dentist visit when the hygienist gently explained how she could tell by the gums. Honestly, it was a bit embarrassing for both of us... but it turned into a good learning moment. Now we just openly admit if we've skipped daysβno judgment. Dentists probably appreciate honesty more than anything, and it makes the whole appointment feel way less stressful.
Haha, I think we've all been there at some point. My dentist once gently pointed out that flossing regularly could actually save me money in the long run by preventing more expensive dental work later. As someone who's always watching the budget, that really stuck with me. Curious if anyone else has gotten similar practical advice from their dentist that changed their habits?

Reading these comments makes me feel a bit better about my own dentist anxiety, honestly. My orthodontist once showed me exactly how plaque builds up around my braces wires and brackets... it was pretty gross and embarrassing. Ever since then, I've been kinda paranoid about flossing and brushing properly, but I still dread every appointment thinking they'll find something wrong. Glad I'm not the only one who feels like a kid getting scolded at the dentist, haha.
