Totally agree about the dentist's approach making all the difference. We had a similar experience—initially went to a very modern office with tablets and ceiling screens, but the dentist barely said two words to my daughter. She was still anxious afterward. Switched to an older practice (nothing fancy at all), but the dentist explained every step calmly, let her touch some of the tools, and answered her million questions patiently. Night and day difference... now she actually reminds ME when her next appointment is coming up. Kids are funny like that.

We had almost the opposite happen, funny enough... first dentist was super old-school and barely interacted with my son, just gave quick instructions and got straight to work. My kiddo was terrified after that. We switched to a newer practice, and thankfully the dentist there took plenty of time to chat, joke around, and explain exactly what was happening step-by-step. Really, I think it's less about modern vs. old-fashioned and more about the dentist's personality and patience level. Glad your daughter found someone she clicks with though, makes life so much easier!

Totally agree with this. My kids' dentist isn't exactly young or trendy, but he's amazing because he genuinely enjoys interacting with kids. He always takes a minute to chat about their favorite cartoons or toys before getting started, and it makes a huge difference. Honestly, word-of-mouth from other parents helped us find him—sometimes that's better than online reviews, since you get the real scoop on how they handle nervous kiddos.

I completely agree with you both. When I was looking for my own dentist (I'm a nervous patient myself), I found that personality mattered way more than age or how fancy their office was. I actually visited a few places first just to chat briefly with the dentist and see how comfortable I felt. Sounds weird, but it helped ease my anxiety a lot. Sometimes just seeing how patient and calm they are in person makes all the difference...especially for kids or anxious adults like me.

Totally get this. When I was looking for an orthodontist, I actually asked around at my kid's school—other parents usually have great insights. One mom recommended someone who was super patient and explained everything clearly, step by step. Made a huge difference for my son, who was pretty nervous about braces. Fancy offices are nice, but nothing beats a dentist or orthodontist who genuinely listens and takes their time with you.
