RE: How do you compare a $60 whitening kit with a $450 professional quote?
One detail I’d add to the quote comparison is the delivery method. Ask whether the professional option uses custom-fitted trays for take-home whitening or an in-office light-based treatment. A better tray fit may limit g...
RE: Why is brushing teeth with kids like herding cats?
Honestly, I think you’re onto something with just keeping it simple. I tried making brushing “fun” with songs, stickers, even letting my kid pick the toothpaste flavor - half the time, it just turned into a bigger battle...
RE: When Bleeding Gums Start Talking: A Dental Drama
Honestly, I used to think the whole gum pocket measuring thing was just dentists trying to freak us out. The first time they did it, I barely paid attention... but then they started rattling off numbers and suddenly it f...
RE: Weirdest thing I learned about cleaning clear aligners
I’ve actually tried the denture tablets a couple times and honestly, I wasn’t super impressed. They do make things taste a bit fresher for a bit, but the weird aftertaste always comes back. That’s pretty much been my ex...
RE: Keeping that post-root canal cheek puff under control
Yep, I’ve been there. It’s so hard not to keep checking the swelling, even when you know it’s probably not changing much minute-to-minute. Kind of like when you keep looking at a bruise to see if it’s faded yet... as if ...
RE: Tooth pain strikes: do you go to the ER or wait for your dentist?
Had to deal with this exact thing last winter - woke up with insane tooth pain, but the ER couldn’t do much except give me antibiotics and pain meds. Ended up waiting two days for my dentist to actually fix it. Super fru...
RE: How many meds are messing with your mouth?
That’s awesome your dad saw a difference just by switching up snacks. I’ve noticed the same - my mouth feels way less gross when I stick to cheese or nuts instead of crackers. Dry mouth is still a thing for me too, espec...
RE: Keeping dentures fresh when you’re forgetful like me
Those denture brushes really do make a difference, right? I used to think my regular toothbrush was fine until I tried the denture brush - now I can’t go back. I still have those nights where I’m half-asleep and just giv...
RE: Feeling stuck between another root canal or just pulling the tooth?
I get where you're coming from about spacers and waiting, but in my case, waiting actually made things trickier down the line. I lost a molar as a teen and we went with the “let’s just wait” plan - ended up with my teeth...
RE: What Actually Happens During a Full House Deep Clean?
Yeah, I get what you mean about it not looking super different right after. Every time I get a “deep clean” at the dentist, it’s kinda the same vibe - teeth look pretty much the same, but they feel way smoother and there...
RE: Why does going back for more dental work freak me out so much?
That’s exactly it - the chair itself is like a trigger, even if logically I know what’s coming. Weirdly, sometimes I get more worked up for a “simple” redo than the first big procedure. Last time, I tried focusing on my ...
RE: braces vs clear aligners: which made you feel less self-conscious?
I get where you’re coming from - my daughter was actually more self-conscious with braces than with aligners. She hated how food always got stuck in the brackets and was super aware of her smile in photos. With aligners,...
RE: Keeping pain at bay after wisdom tooth extraction: worth the fuss?
I hear you on the peas - mine always ended up thawing way too fast and then leaking everywhere. The gel packs are just so much easier to deal with, and honestly, I think sticking to that icing schedule really does help. ...
RE: How I pack and care for my retainer when traveling - step by step
Totally hear you on the screw-on case issue. I had the same thing happen - thought it was secure, but one rough jostle in my bag and it popped open. The rubber band trick isn’t glamorous, but honestly, whatever keeps tha...
