We started fluoride treatments pretty early too...our dentist recommended it around 12 months since our tap water isn't fluoridated. Honestly, I was skeptical at first but now I'm glad we did. Curious though, anyone notice their little ones disliking the taste at first? Mine definitely did...

We started fluoride treatments around the same age, and yeah, mine wasn't thrilled about the taste either at first. She'd scrunch up her face like I'd just betrayed her trust, haha. But after a few visits, she got used to it. From what I've read, it's pretty common for little ones to dislike new flavors initially—especially something as distinct as fluoride gel—but they usually adapt quickly. Glad you stuck with it!

I remember when my grandkids first started fluoride treatments, they acted like we were torturing them with some awful medicine. But honestly, it's worth the initial fuss—fluoride really does wonders for preventing cavities early on. One thing I've wondered though, is whether dentists nowadays recommend fluoride varnish over gels for babies and toddlers? Seems like the varnish might be easier to tolerate taste-wise... Curious if anyone's dentist has mentioned this.

My dentist actually mentioned this exact thing last time we went in. She said they're leaning more toward varnish these days because it's quicker to apply and kids don't mind it as much taste-wise. Plus, she pointed out that varnish tends to stick around longer on the teeth, so you might not need treatments quite as often—which is a nice bonus if you're watching your budget. Definitely seems like a win-win for both parents and kiddos...

Yeah, my dentist mentioned something similar last time I went in too. She said varnish tends to be easier on younger kids since there's less fuss and gagging involved—definitely a plus for those first few visits. Honestly, anything that makes the dentist less intimidating for little ones is great in my book. Sounds like your dentist is really keeping up with the latest practices...good to know you're in good hands!
