Totally get what you mean about the waiting being worse. I had this exact thought:

I remember thinking I’d leave with a mouth full of metal, but it took like three more appointments before anything permanent happened.
I was so hyped (and nervous) to just get started, but the process felt endless. Honestly, I think all that prep is underrated, though—it’s wild how much they map out before even touching your teeth. The molds were the worst part for me too… that chalky stuff stuck with me for hours. But looking back, I’m glad they took their time. The results were worth every awkward waiting room minute.

I get what you’re saying about the prep work dragging on, but honestly, I think it’s necessary. The detailed scans and molds make a huge difference in how well everything lines up later. I remember being super impatient at my first few appointments—just wanted to get the braces on and be done with it. But skipping steps would probably mess with the results, and nobody wants to do this twice.

The molds are rough, though. That chalky taste stuck with me for way too long. I tried rinsing with water right after, but it didn’t help much... not sure if anyone’s found a trick for that yet. The upside is, once the planning’s done, the rest of the process feels a lot more straightforward. Looking back, I’d rather sit through a few awkward appointments than risk having to redo anything down the line.

That chalky mold taste is honestly the worst—like chewing on drywall, right? I totally get why they’re necessary, though. The molds and scans are basically the blueprint for your new smile, so skipping them would be like building a house without a plan. I found that sucking on a lemon drop (after the appointment, not during!) helped get rid of that weird aftertaste faster. Once the scans are done, the rest of the process really does feel smoother... even if those first few appointments test your patience.

Man, that mold goop is a rite of passage, right? I swear, I could still taste that funky plaster stuff hours later. Someone in my office once called it “liquid sidewalk” and honestly, that tracks. But yeah, totally agree—those scans are the MVPs for getting everything lined up. Personally, I always kept a pack of gum in my car for after. Anything to erase the memory. Once you’re past that stage, it’s just a lot of tiny adjustments and awkward smiles in the mirror... but hey, worth it in the end.

That stuff was the worst—I swear it got stuck in my teeth for hours. I remember just sitting there, trying not to gag while pretending everything was fine. The gum trick is genius, wish I’d thought of that. Getting past the molds felt like a milestone, honestly.
