Mashed sweet potatoes were good, but yeah, cinnamon was a no-go for me too. Felt like my mouth was tingling weirdly afterward—not painful exactly, just... uncomfortable? Avocado smoothies were my lifesaver though. I blended mine with banana and almond milk—super smooth and filling without any irritation. Funny how spices you never noticed before suddenly become your enemy post-surgery, huh?

Totally get what you mean about the cinnamon—had the same weird tingling thing happen to me with nutmeg after my jaw surgery. It was like my mouth suddenly decided it didn't recognize spices I'd enjoyed for decades. Avocado smoothies were definitely a win, though. Personally, I found blending in some frozen mango chunks with coconut milk made it taste almost like dessert, without any irritation at all.

One thing I learned (the hard way) was to be cautious with acidic fruits like pineapple or citrus—I thought they'd be refreshing, but they ended up feeling like tiny needles poking around my gums. Ouch. On the bright side, I discovered a newfound appreciation for plain Greek yogurt mixed with honey. Simple, soothing, and surprisingly satisfying. Hang in there—it does get easier, and you'll be back to enjoying your favorite flavors sooner than you think.

Totally agree, avocado was my lifesaver too. Weirdly enough, peanut butter became my enemy—felt like glue in my mouth. Greek yogurt and honey sounds amazing though, wish I'd thought of that combo earlier...

Glad I'm not alone with the peanut butter thing—I thought I was just being picky. Did you find avocado smoothies filling enough? I always worried my kid wasn't getting enough calories... Greek yogurt sounds smart, wish we'd tried that sooner.

Avocado smoothies were a lifesaver for us—definitely calorie-dense enough, especially if you toss in some full-fat coconut milk or a spoonful of honey. My daughter struggled with peanut butter too, said it made her mouth feel sticky and uncomfortable. We ended up blending in bananas or even a bit of oatmeal to bulk things up without the gluey texture. Greek yogurt was another staple, but we also did cottage cheese blended smooth with peaches or berries. Sounds weird, I know, but it worked great and kept her feeling full longer. Honestly, getting creative with textures and flavors helped keep things interesting during recovery...and kept me from worrying too much about nutrition.
