So I've been working nights for a while now, and honestly, my dental routine has kinda gone downhill. I mean, it's weird, you know? Breakfast is at like 6 pm, dinner at 3 am, and half the time I crash into bed without brushing because I'm just exhausted. My dentist wasn't thrilled last time I visited—said something about increased plaque buildup and asked if I'd changed anything.

I guess my usual brushing twice a day isn't cutting it with this upside-down schedule. And coffee at midnight probably isn't helping either (but hey, gotta stay awake somehow). Tried chewing gum and drinking water after meals but still noticing issues.

Anyone else work odd hours and have figured out how to keep their teeth from going downhill? Maybe there's some trick or routine adjustment I'm missing...would appreciate any tips or experiences.

Been there myself when my kid had some health issues and we were up at all hours—totally messed up my dental routine too. What helped me was shifting the brushing times to match meals rather than the clock. Like, brush after your "breakfast" at 6 pm and again after your 3 am dinner. Also, maybe keep a toothbrush and toothpaste at work? Sounds weird, but sneaking in a quick brush after midnight coffee made a noticeable difference for me...might be worth a shot.

Totally agree with shifting brushing times around meals rather than the clock—makes a huge difference. When I worked nights, I kept floss picks in my car and used them during breaks. Felt kinda silly at first, but it really helped keep things fresh between brushes. Also, drinking water after coffee or snacks helps rinse away sugars and acids...small habits add up over time. Hang in there, night shifts are tough on routines!

Definitely agree with this—do you find chewing sugar-free gum helpful too? I've found it handy between brushes, especially on long shifts when I can't get to floss right away.
