RE: Ice or gauze for a knocked-out tooth - what’s your go-to?
Gauze has always been my first move too, especially with my youngest - she panics at the sight of blood, so stopping the bleeding calms everyone down a bit. One time she tripped on the playground and her tooth ended up i...
RE: Why my morning coffee might be turning my teeth yellow
My kiddo had the same issue after getting into iced tea (he thinks he’s fancy now). Dentist mentioned the dry mouth thing too, which surprised me. We started packing him a little water bottle for school and he’s gotten i...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
Cold yogurt was a huge help for my kid after her adjustments. She’d get so frustrated with the gel packs - just didn’t do much, and she hated holding them in place. Yogurt was gentle, and she could eat it without much fu...
RE: braces vs clear aligners: which made you feel less self-conscious?
My daughter’s going through aligners right now, and honestly, I feel you on the lisp. She gets self-conscious every time she swaps trays - her friends tease her a bit, but she laughs it off. With braces, she complained m...
RE: What’s More Important To Ask: Pain Management Or Long-Term Tooth Health?
I totally get what you mean about pain being brushed off. My daughter started her aligners last year and, honestly, there were nights she’d just sit on the couch with this look like she was trying to decide if it was wor...
RE: Getting used to eating and talking with new teeth
My daughter went through something similar after her dental work - she said her tongue felt like it was learning a new language. The scratchy sounds drove her nuts for a bit, but honestly, it faded as she got used to eve...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
Funny timing, I was just talking to my kid’s orthodontist about this exact thing. We’d been using those cleaning tablets for her retainer because, honestly, it felt like the easiest way to keep things fresh - especially ...
RE: How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?
My kid had a tooth pulled last year (first molar, poor thing), and I was way more cautious than maybe necessary. The dentist said “soft foods” too, but even yogurt made her nervous, and she kept asking if she could just ...
RE: How often do you actually see your dentist?
I totally get the anxiety about crowns and missing spots, but honestly, after watching my kid go through her first filling last year, I started to rethink how tightly I was holding onto that six-month rule. Her dentist a...
RE: Which one actually gets your teeth cleaner: blasting with water or good ol’ string floss?
My kiddo just got braces this year, and I swear, flossing is like a nightly puzzle. Waterpik helps him not freak out, but I still make him use string floss a few times a week. Has anyone noticed if their kids’ gums look ...
RE: Getting used to new dentures: slow and steady or all at once?
My kiddo went through something similar, and honestly, I think the “slow and steady” route saved us a lot of tears. At first, he was so frustrated he couldn’t just eat whatever he wanted - tried to sneak a bite of pizza ...
RE: Braces for buck teeth vs deep bite: did you know there’s a difference?
My kiddo has “the waterfall” stage down to an art. I remember that first week after she got her braces on for her deep bite - she kept a paper towel tucked in her sleeve at all times, just in case. She’d try to talk and ...
RE: Which is better: letting a retreatment heal naturally or pushing for a quick fix?
Totally relate. My daughter once had a sore tooth and I kept second-guessing myself - wait or rush in? Ended up waiting, and it sorted itself out, but the worry was real. Sometimes I wish there was a clear answer.
RE: Best way to get the most out of fluoride: paste or rinse first?
I totally get where you’re coming from. My kid’s dentist gave us the same advice, and it felt so weird at first - like, leaving toothpaste behind just seemed wrong after a lifetime of rinsing. The first week or two, my k...
