[Closed] my dentist warned me vaping could mess up my smile, but I didn't think much of it until yesterday.

My dentist didn't specify flavors exactly, but he did mention acidity levels being a concern. I'm not sure it's just fruity flavors—mint can be pretty harsh too, right? I mean, think about toothpaste sensitivity... minty stuff sometimes makes my teeth feel more sensitive afterward. Maybe it's less about the flavor itself and more about the chemical makeup or additives they use? I'd be cautious assuming mint or menthol is safer without clear evidence. Has anyone actually asked their dentist specifically about mint flavors?

Mint can definitely be sneaky harsh—you're onto something there. I've had patients mention sensitivity after switching toothpastes, and minty flavors often come up as culprits. Makes me wonder if it's the menthol or some other additive causing issues rather than acidity alone. Has anyone here noticed differences between brands or types of mint flavoring? Might be worth checking ingredient lists...though honestly, vaping ingredients aren't always clear-cut. Curious if anyone's dentist has specifically flagged mint or menthol additives?

I've definitely noticed patients mentioning minty stuff causing sensitivity, but I honestly haven't seen dentists specifically flag menthol or mint additives from vaping. From what I've noticed, it's usually the drying effect from vaping that's the bigger issue rather than just flavoring alone. Menthol can be pretty irritating though—it's used in other products for that cooling, numbing sensation, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's playing a role.

I tried comparing ingredient lists once out of curiosity, and yeah...vaping brands aren't exactly transparent about what's in their flavors. Toothpaste ingredients are way more straightforward in comparison. One thing you could try is switching to milder or non-mint flavors for a bit and see if your symptoms improve. A patient of mine had luck with that after experiencing weird sensitivity issues when they switched to a super strong mint toothpaste brand. Could be worth experimenting with flavors and brands to see if there's any difference.

I've noticed similar issues with minty stuff too—especially strong toothpaste. Switching to a milder flavor helped me a lot. Vaping ingredients are definitely sketchy sometimes...hope you find something that works better for you soon.

Yeah, minty toothpaste can definitely irritate gums, especially if they're already sensitive from vaping. I switched to a toothpaste without SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) and noticed a huge improvement—apparently, SLS can cause irritation and even mouth ulcers for some people. Honestly, vaping ingredients are a bit of a wild west situation right now...lots of unknowns about long-term effects. Might be worth looking into products with fewer additives or even taking a break to see if symptoms improve.
