[Sticky] my dentist warned me vaping could mess up my smile, but I didn't think much of it until yesterday.

"Honestly, vaping ingredients are a bit of a wild west situation right now...lots of unknowns about long-term effects."

True, there's still a lot we don't know yet, but I'd say it's not just additives - nicotine itself can restrict blood flow and affect gum health. Switching toothpaste helps, but addressing the root cause might be more effective long-term. Just my two cents though...

Good point about nicotine affecting gums...my ortho mentioned something similar when I got braces. Wonder if vaping could slow down orthodontic treatments too, since blood flow matters for tooth movement? Might explain why some treatments drag on longer than expected...

Hmm, makes sense...now I'm wondering if caffeine could have a similar effect? My ortho always gives me side-eye when I walk in holding coffee, lol. Maybe that's why my teeth are taking forever to shift.

Honestly, I doubt caffeine itself is really slowing down your teeth shifting. I've been a coffee addict through two rounds of braces (lucky me, right?), and my ortho never said anything about caffeine specifically. They did give me the side-eye for staining reasons though - coffee and clear bands don't exactly mix well, lol.

But seriously, from what I've heard, it's more about the staining and acidity than caffeine affecting tooth movement. My teeth moved at a pretty normal pace despite my daily latte habit. Maybe your ortho's just concerned about discoloration or enamel damage rather than actual alignment issues?

I mean, everyone's different, so who knows...but I'd probably blame genetics or stubborn teeth over your morning brew. Either way, I wouldn't stress too much about it - just keep brushing and flossing like crazy after coffee to keep your ortho happy!

Yeah, I'd bet that's it. My dentist warned me about vaping too - not because it slows tooth movement, but because nicotine can mess with gum health and circulation. Honestly, quitting saved me money and hassle...braces are pricey enough already.
